This Cisco N7K Advanced Enterprise license enables two critical capabilities: Virtual Device Contexts (VDCs) — logically partitioning a single physical Nexus 7000 into multiple independent virtual switches (4-5 non-admin VDCs + 1 admin VDC), each with its own configuration, processes, and RBAC; and Cisco TrustSec (CTS) — security group tagging and policy-based access control for role-aware network segmentation. For multi-tenant data centers and service providers, this license is the foundation for physical switch virtualization and identity-based security.

Also referenced as N7K-ADV1K9 or N7K-ADV1K9=, this Cisco Nexus 7000 Advanced Enterprise e-delivery license is a perpetual, chassis-based license. It is independent from N7K-LAN1K9 (routing protocols) — neither includes the other's features. For environments needing both routing and VDCs, both licenses must be purchased. For Supervisor 2E, additional VDCs can be added via N7K-VDC1K9 (4 additional VDCs per license, up to 8 VDCs + 1 admin). For the Nexus 7700 equivalent, see N77-ADV1K9.
